The horn: its use as a symbolic object is ancient; its allure is intertwined with history and superstition. Traces of it can be found as early as the Neolithic; in Egyptian civilization; the Romans associated the horn with fertility: the more fertile the people, the more powerful they were. But it was only in the Middle Ages that the horn's use took on magical dimensions, becoming the ultimate good luck charm. The talisman had to be red and handmade. Red like the blood of vanquished enemies; handmade because it was believed that each amulet acquired its powers only from the hands of its maker.
